Cookie Consent Widget for Elementor Pro

Cookie notice with categories that holds scripts back until visitors agree.

Overview

What Cookie Consent does

Cookie Consent shows a notice as a bar or a box with Accept, Decline and Preferences buttons. Visitors can switch your own categories on or off, the choice is stored in a cookie, and scripts and iframes you mark for a category only start after consent. Use it on sites that load analytics, ads or embeds.

Features

What it can do

  • Four layouts: Bar at the Bottom, Bar at the Top, Box Bottom Left and Box Bottom Right.

  • Accept, Decline and Preferences buttons, each with your own text.

  • A fixed Necessary category plus your own optional categories with a key, name and description.

  • Marked scripts and iframes stay off until their category is accepted.

  • The choice is remembered for a number of days you set, up to 395.

  • A small corner button, and any link to #cookie-settings, reopens the notice.

  • Optional consent update for Google Consent Mode.

  • Changing the Notice Version asks every visitor again.

Use cases

When to use it

Analytics opt in

Mark your analytics script with the analytics key so it only runs after the visitor accepts.

Embedded videos and maps

Mark an iframe with a category so the embed loads only after consent.

Policy update

Change the Notice Version after you update your cookies or policy, so everyone is asked again.

Footer settings link

Add a link to #cookie-settings in your footer so visitors can change their choice at any time.

Setup

How to set it up

What you need: Scripts and iframes must be marked with the data-bapro-consent attribute to be held back. Google Consent Mode needs a Google tag that sets the default consent state.

  1. Add the Cookie Consent widget to a template that loads on every page, such as your footer.

  2. In Notice pick a Layout and write the Title, Message, Policy Link Text and button texts.

  3. In Categories add one row per group of cookies under Optional Categories, each with a Key, Name and Description.

  4. Mark each script you want to hold back: set its type to text/plain and add the attribute data-bapro-consent with the category key.

  5. In Behaviour set Remember the Choice For (days) and decide on Button to Change the Choice.

  6. Switch on Update Google Consent Mode if your Google tag uses it.

  7. Style the notice and buttons, then open the site in a private window to test.

FAQ

Questions and answers

How do I block a script until the visitor accepts?

Change the script type to text/plain and add data-bapro-consent with the category key, for example analytics. The script starts as soon as that category is accepted.

What happens when a visitor presses Decline?

All optional categories are saved as off and only the necessary category stays on. The notice closes and the choice is remembered.

Can visitors change their mind later?

Yes. They can use the corner button or any link to #cookie-settings to open the notice again.

Why is the Preferences button missing?

It only appears when the Preferences Button text is filled in and at least one optional category has a valid key.
