Lottie Animation Widget for Elementor Pro

Play Lottie JSON animations on load, scroll, hover or click

Overview

What Lottie Animation does

Lottie Animation plays a Lottie JSON file from your media library or from an external URL. You choose what starts it: page load, entering the viewport, hover, click, or the visitor's scroll position. Use it for animated icons, illustrations and scroll-driven visuals.

Features

What it can do

  • Three sources: a built-in demo animation, an uploaded JSON media file, or an external JSON URL.

  • Five triggers: Page Loads, Visible in Viewport, On Hover, On Click and Scroll Controlled.

  • Four choices for mouse leave on hover: Pause, Play in Reverse, Reset to Start or Keep Playing.

  • Hover area can be the animation, its parent column or container, or its parent section.

  • Play only part of the file with Start Point (%) and End Point (%).

  • Loop forever or a set number of times, change speed from 0.1 to 5, or play in reverse.

  • SVG or Canvas renderer, and lazy loading of the JSON file.

  • Optional link, caption and accessible description.

Use cases

When to use it

Animated hero illustration

Play a looping illustration next to the main heading when it comes into view.

Hover icons in cards

Set the hover area to the parent column so the icon plays when the whole card is hovered.

Scroll storytelling

Tie the animation to the scroll position so it advances as the visitor moves down the page.

Click to play

Let visitors start and pause an animation themselves with a click or the keyboard.

Setup

How to set it up

What you need: A Lottie animation in JSON format, either uploaded to the media library or hosted at a URL that allows cross-origin requests. A demo animation is built in.

  1. Drag Lottie Animation onto the page. The demo animation shows right away.

  2. In the Lottie section, set Source to Media File (JSON) and use Upload JSON File, or choose External URL and paste the address in JSON URL.

  3. Open Playback and choose a trigger in Play When.

  4. Set Loop, Number of Loops and Speed, and turn on Play in Reverse if needed.

  5. To play only a part of the file, move Start Point (%) and End Point (%).

  6. In the Style tab, set the Width, Alignment and any box styling.

FAQ

Questions and answers

How do I upload a Lottie JSON file?

Set Source to Media File (JSON) and use Upload JSON File. Administrators can upload .json files. You can also paste an external JSON URL, or use the built-in demo animation.

Why does my external animation not load?

The host of the JSON file must allow cross-origin requests (CORS). If it does not, upload the file to your own media library instead.

Can the animation follow the page scroll?

Yes. Set Play When to Scroll Controlled, then choose While Crossing the Viewport or Whole Page Scroll in Scroll Effect Range.

Which renderer should I use?

SVG is the default and the sharpest. Canvas is the fastest choice for complex files.
