Taxonomy List Widget for Elementor Pro

List categories, tags or product categories as links.

Overview

What Taxonomy List does

Taxonomy List shows categories, tags, product categories or any other public taxonomy as a list, a grid of cards or a cloud of buttons. Each entry links to its archive page and can show a count, a description, an image or an icon. Use it in sidebars, on blog and shop pages, or under a post to show its topics.

Features

What it can do

  • Three layouts: List, Cards and Buttons (cloud).

  • Works with categories, tags and any other public taxonomy on the site.

  • Shows all terms, main ones only, children of the viewed term, the current post's terms, or chosen IDs.

  • Post or product count with custom text such as {count} posts.

  • Term images in the List and Cards layouts, or one icon for every entry.

  • The term being viewed is highlighted with the hover styling.

  • Child terms can be indented under their parents in the List layout.

  • Optional All link as the first entry, leading to the blog or shop page.

Use cases

When to use it

Blog sidebar categories

A List layout with counts gives readers a quick way into each topic.

Shop category cards

Show product categories as Cards with their images and descriptions on a shop landing page.

Tags under a post

Set Which Ones to The ones of the current post and use the Buttons (cloud) layout.

Subcategory menu

On a category archive, Children of the one being viewed lists only that category's subcategories.

FAQ

Questions and answers

Can it list WooCommerce product categories?

Yes. When WooCommerce is active, product categories appear in the Show option, and their category images can be shown.

How do I show terms in my own order?

Set Which Ones to Chosen by ID and type the IDs into Term IDs. They are shown in the order typed.

Does it mark the category the visitor is viewing?

Yes. On a term archive, the matching entry is marked as current and takes the hover colors and styling.

Where does the All link go?

It opens the archive of the post type the taxonomy belongs to, such as the shop. For post categories and tags it opens the blog page, or the home page when no blog page is set.
