Taxonomy List Pro

How to set up and style the Taxonomy List widget in Elementor.

Taxonomy List shows categories, tags, product categories or any other public taxonomy as a list, a grid of cards or a cloud of buttons. Each entry links to its archive page and can show a count, a description, an image or an icon. Use it in sidebars, on blog and shop pages, or under a post to show its topics.

Part of: Bright Addons Pro.

Set it up

  1. Drag Taxonomy List onto the page or template.

  2. In Terms, choose what to list with Show, then narrow it with Which Ones.

  3. Set How Many, Order and Hide Unused Ones.

  4. In Layout, pick List, Cards or Buttons (cloud) and set Columns.

  5. Switch Count, Description and Image on or off, or choose an Icon.

  6. Type a label into "All" Link Text if a link to the whole blog or shop is wanted.

  7. Style items, text, images and icons in the Style tab.

  • Indent Children only applies when Layout is List, Which Ones is All and the taxonomy has parent and child terms.

  • In Cards, descriptions are shortened to 18 words.

Questions and answers

Can it list WooCommerce product categories?

Yes. When WooCommerce is active, product categories appear in the Show option, and their category images can be shown.

How do I show terms in my own order?

Set Which Ones to Chosen by ID and type the IDs into Term IDs. They are shown in the order typed.

Does it mark the category the visitor is viewing?

Yes. On a term archive, the matching entry is marked as current and takes the hover colors and styling.

Where does the All link go?

It opens the archive of the post type the taxonomy belongs to, such as the shop. For post categories and tags it opens the blog page, or the home page when no blog page is set.
