Unfold Content Pro

How to set up and style the Unfold Content widget in Elementor.

Unfold Content shows the first part of a long text or a saved template and hides the rest until the visitor clicks a button. The content opens with a height animation and can be folded again. Use it to keep long pages short without removing any content.

Part of: Bright Addons Pro. Before you start: Nothing for text. To fold a layout, a published Elementor saved template is needed.

Set it up

  1. Drag the Unfold Content widget onto the page.

  2. In the Content section choose a Source. Type your text in Content, or pick a saved layout under Template.

  3. Open Unfold Settings and set the Folded Height that should be visible before the click.

  4. Decide whether to keep Fade Out Folded Text, Allow Folding Again and Scroll Back When Folding turned on.

  5. Type the Unfold Text and Fold Text, pick the icons and set the Button Alignment.

  6. In the Style tab, set the Fade Color to match the background behind the text and style the button.

Style options

These sections are in the Style tab.

  • Content

typography, text color, link color and alignment, plus the background, border, shadow, radius and padding of the box.

  • Fade

the fade color and the fade height.

  • Button

the space above the button, typography, icon size and spacing, colors, background, border, radius and padding for normal and hover states.

Tips

  • Set the Fade Color to the same color as the background behind the text, otherwise the fade shows as a visible band.

  • If the content is shorter than the Folded Height, the button and the fade are hidden automatically.

  • The full content is part of the page from the start, so it can still be read by search engines.

  • After unfolding, the widget tells the page to recalculate sizes, which helps sliders and maps placed inside a template.

Questions and answers

Can it fold a whole Elementor layout?

Yes. Set Source to Saved Template and choose a template. Only published Elementor saved templates can be selected.

Can the Read more button disappear after the click?

Yes. Turn off Allow Folding Again. The button is then hidden once the content is open.

Why is no button showing?

The content already fits inside the Folded Height, so there is nothing to unfold. Lower the Folded Height or add more content.

Does it animate for everyone?

The height animation is skipped for visitors whose device is set to reduce motion. The content still opens and closes.
