Contact Form Pro

How to set up and style the Contact Form widget in Elementor.

Contact Form is a form builder inside Elementor with 20 field types, multi step forms and file upload. Each entry can be emailed to you, answered with an automatic reply, saved on the site, sent to a webhook, and followed by a message or a redirect. Use it for contact, quote, booking and feedback forms.

Part of: Bright Addons Pro. Before you start: A site that can send email through WordPress mail (an SMTP plugin is recommended if your host does not send email from PHP). Google reCAPTCHA needs your own keys. Product price and SKU need WooCommerce.

Set it up

  1. Drag the Contact Form widget onto the page and open the Fields section.

  2. Edit the rows in Fields: choose a Type, Label, Placeholder and Width, and switch on Required where needed.

  3. Give each field a Field ID such as name or email so you can use it as [name] in subjects and replies.

  4. For a multi step form, add rows of the type Step and set the Progress Display in Steps.

  5. In Actions After Sending, choose What Happens With an Entry, for example add Save entries on this site.

  6. Open Email to You and fill in Send To and Subject. Leave Send To empty to use the site admin email.

  7. Adjust Messages, Redirect and Spam Protection, then send a test entry on the live page.

Tips

  • Send To, Cc, Bcc, From Name, From Email, Message, Attach Uploaded Files and Webhook Address only apply when the page was last saved by an administrator or editor. Otherwise the standard email goes to the site admin email and no webhook is called.

  • The sender is always an address of your own domain. A From Email of another domain is replaced with wordpress@ and your domain.

  • Emails go through WordPress mail. If messages do not arrive, install an SMTP plugin and send a test email from it.

  • A visitor can send 5 entries in ten minutes by default, and one mailbox gets at most three automatic replies per hour.

Questions and answers

Where are the entries saved?

Add Save entries on this site under What Happens With an Entry. Administrators then find them under Bright Addons Pro > Form Entries, where they can be read, deleted and exported as CSV.

How does the form stop spam?

A hidden trap field and a limit on entries per visitor are always on. You can add a minimum fill time, a link limit, blocked words and Google reCAPTCHA.

Does the form send data to other services?

Only if you set them up: a Webhook Address sends entries to that address, and a reCAPTCHA row with keys loads a script from Google and asks Google to check each entry.

Why does the email come from wordpress@ and my domain?

The sender must be an address of the site’s own domain, because mail servers reject mail that claims another domain. The visitor is set as Reply-To, so you can answer directly.
