Downloads Pro

How to set up and style the Downloads widget in Elementor.

Downloads lists your files as a list, grid, compact table or minimal links, with a category filter, search and sorting. A click can download the file, open it in a new tab, or open a popup with the file details or a saved template first. The widget prints normal links to your files. It does not protect files or count downloads.

Part of: Bright Addons Pro. Before you start: Files in the Media Library or the addresses of the files. The template popup needs a saved template (Templates > Saved Templates).

Set it up

  1. Drag Downloads onto the page and open Files.

  2. For each row, type the Title, set File From and choose the File or paste the File Link.

  3. Add a Category, Description, Version or Date where useful.

  4. In Layout, choose the Layout and switch the file details on or off.

  5. In Category Filter and Search, Sort and Count, set up the filter, the Search Field and the Sort Select.

  6. In Click Action and Popup, choose the Click Action for all files.

  7. Style the rows, button and popup in the Style tab.

Tips

  • The links point straight at the files. Anyone who has the address of a file can open it, so do not use the widget for private files.

  • Downloads are not counted and no visitor data is stored.

  • A file on another site always opens in a new tab, because browsers only save files of your own site at once.

  • With Download Button in the Popup off, the popup shows only your template, so the template must tell visitors how they get the file.
