Google Reviews Pro

How to set up and style the Google Reviews widget in Elementor.

Google Reviews shows the rating, the review count and the reviews of a business from Google. Type the business name and the widget finds it on Google Maps; there is nothing else to copy or paste. Pick one of seven layouts, from a full grid of reviews to a small badge or a floating badge in the corner of every page.

Part of: Bright Addons Pro. Before you start: A Google API key with Places API (New) switched on, added once in Bright Addons Pro, Templates and Integrations tab.

Set it up

  1. Add your Google API key once: Bright Addons Pro, Templates and Integrations tab, Google Reviews connection.

  2. Drag Google Reviews onto the page.

  3. In Business, type the Business Name as it shows on Google Maps, with the city.

  4. Check the line above the widget in the editor: it names the business that was found. If it is the wrong one, add the street or use Place ID (optional).

  5. In Layout, pick Grid, Masonry, List, Carousel, Marquee, Rating Badge or Floating Badge.

  6. Set Minimum Rating, Order and the Rating Summary options, then style the cards and update the page.

Tips

  • Google shares up to 5 reviews per business, the ones it finds most relevant. The rating and the review count are always the full totals.

  • The API key stays on your server. Visitors never see it and never talk to Google with it.

  • Each check for new reviews is one request on your Google account. With the default of every 12 hours, one business uses about 60 requests a month, well inside Google's free monthly amount.

  • Google asks every site to show reviewer photos, names and the Google Maps credit with its reviews, so these cannot be switched off.

Questions and answers

Do I need a Google API key?

Yes, once. Google only shares reviews through its Places API, which needs a key. Add it in Bright Addons Pro, Templates and Integrations tab; after that every widget only needs the business name.

Does it cost money?

Google needs a billing account on the key but gives a free monthly amount. One business checked every 12 hours uses about 60 requests a month.

Why are only 5 reviews shown?

Google’s Places API shares up to 5 reviews per business. The rating and review count shown are the real totals.

Can I show the reviews of more than one location?

Yes. Add one widget per location and type each business name, or use the Place ID of each location.
